While on Fall Break this week, our school has lost three current teachers/staff since Monday evening. One was a teacher's aid. One was head of our attendance office and former sportswriter for the Rhea Herald News for over four decades, and the latest this morning was former Vol and defensive back from the 80's, teacher Charles Benton. One of those was the first person the students saw every morning, and another one was the last person they saw as they boarded the buses every afternoon. All were very visible among our students, faculty, administration, staff and county, and all were deeply loved by everyone who walked through the doors of our school and to those who knew them in the county.
I know God has a plan to get us through this, so please pray for His wisdom and strength to guide us during this time. Pray for the families, friends and loved ones left behind, and for our county and our school as we have much to deal with now and in the very near future. I have been reminded through the events of these last few days that there are some things that we all think are important to us, but at the end of the day, they don't compare to the things that really matter in life. Hug your family, friends and loved ones, and tell them every day that you love them, and never, ever leave anything unsaid.
