Below is a quote from a UF fan from a UF site. It is interesting to me how one win has taken CBJ from a "hot garbage of a coach" as one UF fan put it in the first Qtr, to an excellent coach whose recruiting will have the Vols in a better place than the Gators for the foreseeable future.
"First lets talk about the game. I have never seen a gator staff take their foot off the gas and let a team back in a contest like today. Mac had them on the ropes and ready to quit. Instead, the Gators proved to be a bunch of front running trash talkers who couldn't finish or back up the talk. The perception of the program could have taken a huge step forward today. I think it took a huge step back. Ask yourself this: how do YOU think recruits are looking at UF now?
Also, About the trash talk... This is why you don't do it. The fact that it was allowed, especially from Tabor, makes me wonder what Mac was thinking. Never again. Never, ever again... But for now it's too late.
Most importantly, I suspect this game represents two programs passing in the night in a huge way. By letting them back in in in the 3rd quarter, Mac may have alley-ooped the entire Vol program while retarding UF's at the exact wrong time. Sure, everything is still in front for UF, but you just forfeited a golden opportunity, provided a rival with a signature win, validated his tenure, and humiliated yourself on national tv. Now UF fights uphill from here out with major questions to answer on both sides of the ball...
...and next year is going to be tougher. You probably lose 8 of 11 on defense with little proven depth in the back 7,and I suspect Collins will leave too. Sure the offense will be better, but even so, next year doesn't exactly smell like a title run. So... Now UF stares in to a few more year before they are likely primed to compete for it all. They are probably facing the same situation Butch Jones was at Ut a few years ago. The question is, is Mac recruiting well enough to climb back like Butch is? I don't see it. I think he's in trouble already.
Hope he proves me wrong."
One more quote. This one from the Georgia site. I personally hate the phrase "sleeping giant", but I think those SEC Fans who are a little older see what this game might mean for the SEC East if the Vols build from it and continue this run:
"I would rather win this week and lose every other game this year. I don't want UT to get back to being a top tier program" - Georgia Fan in reference to their upcoming game against Tennessee
