When they changed the system a couple of years ago they eliminated the bonus ranking points for Jucos. They simply get the base points for their rating. Kamara for example is a 6.1, five star Juco. They assign the base point for a 6.1 rated player of 150 points. You need to go all the way down to the 116th rated four star HS player to have less points than 150. Jack Jones and Tuttle as four stars both have higher point totals that Kamara.

In the end it doesn't matter. People that know more than me think he is a very good player deserving of a five star label (which also really doesn't matter). I like the new formula but don't understand why they devalued the Juco's so much. I could see some bonus points for the top ten or at least the 5 stars (6.1 rated). Cam Newton would have been the 111-115th best player in the new system this year. He was the number one Juco player the year he went to Auburn. This is an oddity in the new formula IMO. From a points standpoint your should simply think of Kamara as a highly rated 4 star. This is one of the reasons that the star rankings don't appear to line up with the point totals.
