Personally, I'd like to see us keep Coach Tyndall if there's a way to do so. Just wondering about a few things - would you agree or disagree with the following statements?

1. Dave Hart has likely talked off the record with the new SEC commissioner, who as I understand it is on the NCAA COI (or others with the NCAA), and has a better sense than any of us of:

a. when the NCAA letter is coming; and
b. how serious the allegations are going to be, in terms of expected penalties.

2. UT will know enough based on the notice of allegations how serious the penalties could be to make a decision on CDT's future basically as soon as the letter is received (as opposed to having to wait to respond, and then wait again for the NCAA's ruling).

3. If CDT is looking at a suspension of, say, 10 games or less, UT will likely stick with him.

4. If it looks like that's where things are headed based on the letter, UT would likely try to pursue a summary disposition of the case at that point to bring this to an end.

5. Having to hire a new coach who is in all likelihood not a 'big name' guy and start over with recruiting is likely worse for recruiting than the damage caused by CDT being in limbo with the NCAA into the summer or longer.

6. The penalties imposed by the NCAA on CDT are going to be worse than we had hoped because (a) there clearly is a trend toward going after the coaches more, (b) the NCAA does not care one bit about the impact on UT, which appears to be just unlucky and in no way at fault in hiring CDT, and (c) the NCAA is so inconsistent and unpredictable that you can almost count on them doing the opposite of what you would expect.

Thanks in advance for your input.
