Really, really strong – we have already gotten a bunch of studs on campus (the UF game was massive), instate has a handful of 4-stars already (and Emerson is a borderline 5-star), and I expect Hoke to strengthen our position with some and get us in with others since it’s obviously very early.
You always need a bunch of DL but if we could lock down Emerson in particular early that would give us a chance to be very picky with the rest of the DL spots.
Instate Studs
Greg Emerson – strong Vol lean; would love to see us lock him down this spring
Brent Lawless – on campus multiple times, including 2016 UF and Bama; same HS as Bituli
D’Andre Litaker – I know some like OhioVol think he’s more of an OL; he’s also the most open of the three to leaving the state (likes UGA for sure)
Emmitt Gooden – we all know who he is; nation’s #1 JUCO DL who was close to being a 2017 signee, so I think he’s likely a 2018 EE; I would imagine we’ll try and get involved
Southern prospects
KJ Henry – 5-star from NC, will be a blue-blood recruitment
Stephon Wynn – from Anderson, SC and now at IMG; major Clemson target but was here for a 2015 JR Day and 2016 UF game; likes the Vols
Rick Sandidge – from Concord, NC; was here for 2 JR Days last spring
Alfred Thomas – was here for a JR Day and 2016 Bama game; from Bama, so…
Brenton Cox – from GA, at one time named us his leader; was at 2016 UF and Bama games
Malcolm Lamar – Tampa prospect (Scott) who has named us in his Top 2 with UF early
Midwest Prospects
PJ Mustipher – from MD; has been to 2 games including 2016 Bama
Micah Parsons – PSU commit; was at 2015 Vandy and 2016 UF games; recently named a Top 5 in which we were not included, but I think we will keep fighting here
Trevor Trout – from STL, per his Twitter was coming to campus this past weekend
Malik Vann – from OH, was at 2016 UF game
Aeneas Hawkins – from Cincinnati, where we have had some success
