that UT can't compete with the Bamas and UGAs of the world because of the recruiting territories.

If geographic location was the determining factor, nobody else would ever win a national title. But we all know that's not the case and never has been. It's all about the head coach. If you've got a good one, you're going to win at the highest level no matter where you're located. Nobody was complaining about "geographic location" when we were winning big and pulling in top recruits in the 1990s and early 2000s. The reason we haven't been winning and pulling in top classes is because of coaching, period.

If location was the biggest factor, then why did it take UGA over 40 years to win another national title? Until the last few years, they haven't even been in contention for one. Alabama's last title was in 1992 until it broke through under Nick Saban. Why? Because they had crappy coaches who didn't know how to recruit and develop a championship team.

We've just suffered through the single worst stretch in the history of our program, and we've had crappy coach after crappy coach. But even in the worst of times and under the worst coaches we've still been able to bring in very solid to very good recruiting classes. Imagine what those classes would have been had we actually had decent coaching?

It's all about the coach and nothing else. Let's hope Heupel is that guy.
