The idiots on CBS just crowned KY co-champions of the SEC regular season. Are these the same morons that voted us 13th preseason?
We played a good, but not great game, and dominated a solid team. There aren't many teams below a 1 other than UT and Duke who have looked that dominant so far.
Loyola should be another win for the Vols. They play two guys taller than 6'5. One is the freshman at 6'9 260. He is a very talented basketball player in the post, but has absolutely no vertical rise. If our guys don't take the head fake, we should have multiple blocks. He also likes to dip under and does so effectively. Their other "big" is 6'6 215 Senior Ingram. He's 39.9% from three point range. They bring a 6'5 230 Senior off the bench. That's it. Everyone else is 6'4, 6'3, or 6'1.
They play a 7 man rotation with a couple of guys getting spot minutes. The two other bench contributors got 5 and 4 today and average 3.5 and 1.9 mpg.
They have 5 guys who average double-digits. The size mis-match on Saturday is going to be significant. It's a particularly good match-up for us because of Grant and Admiral's versatility. They should not be able to exploit mismatches as effectively as we can.
As today showed, they cannot stop dribble penetration. Miami figured that out at half-time and came out in the 2nd half and took it to the rim constantly. Miami seemed as inconsistent as described.
Loyola hit 246 three pointers this season and average 39.8 percent. That's good news for us because we are one of the better perimeter defensive teams. For comparison, Auburn hit 312 threes this season at a 36.6% clip and FL hit 292 at a 37.5% clip. We have hit 249 at 38.4%.
We've had some bad match-ups this season. This isn't one. We show up and run our offense and play patient defense, we win this one going away.
