Someone help me understand the "practice" comments

Someone help me understand this logic. Who gives a shit about what he does in practice. They've been saying this for 3 years. "He looks great in practice". "He had a great series of practices". Then he comes onto the field and single handedly loses football games. Then continues to get rolled out there as QB1 because he had a good practice. The dude is what he is and it ain't changing. Why the hell does he continue to get this many chances?

Am I missing something? I'm no D1 coach and I'm not trying to be an armchair coach, but how many times does JG have to do what JG does before someone says "huh! Those practices obviously don't mean anything because he sucks in the actual game"?!
