  • The Cleveland-based MLB franchise formerly known as the Indians reached a settlement in its naming dispute with a local roller derby team, which sued the baseball organization in federal court last month, that will allow both teams to be known as the Cleveland Guardians. The baseball team, which is expected to complete its name change ahead of the 2022 MLB season, delayed the release of merchandise bearing its new name and marks earlier in the week with the lawsuit still pending. Loyola Chicago is officially the Atlantic 10's newest member, the league announced on Tuesday, and is expected to join the conference on July 1, 2022. The Ramblers have been members of the Missouri Valley Conference since July 2013.

Western Michigan University reaches settlement in lawsuit over COVID-19 vaccine mandate for athletes

As part of the proposed settlement, which Federal District Court Judge Paul L. Maloney had yet to sign as of Tuesday morning, WMU will agree to drop its vaccine requirement for the 16 student-athletes that challenged the policy on religious grounds, though the university can require the student-athletes to wear a face coverings during team activities and submit to COVID-19 testing weekly or more frequently.

Casey has agreed to name, image and likeness (NIL) deals with Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurants in Kansas as well as Lewis Automotive Group, a dealership with locations in Topeka, Kansas and Hays, Kansas, which is the closest town of any size to Casey's hometown of Plainville in the northwest part of the state.
