i was viewing the team rankings because it’s fun to look and see us in the top ten haha but seeing northwestern and Texas tech in the top 5 made gave me an idea. Could rivals do a different ranking that might better represent the quality of the class?
For example, Texas tech is #1 but they likely will be outside the top fifteen come signing day... as a team gets closer to 20 commits (especially if they have almost double the commits as others) they could show their ranking based on where their total points per recruit would’ve had them ranked the previous year. Continuing with the Texas tech example, their 1785 points with 20 commits would’ve had them 20th last year.
For northwestern, their ~1200 for 17 commits is about 74 points per commit, or 1480 points with 20 commits (rivals only uses 20 commits to calculate rankings). That would be good for 37th last year… being ranked 5th right now makes the current rankings misleading, and adding this alternate ranking would make the team rankings a more viable metric to use in a debate, especially this far away from signing day.
