To me there is a scale of successful coaches in college football. There are x and o gurus, recruiting front man head coaches and then there are coaches that are both
For example, Chip Kelly successful college coach that is an offensive guru or Dabo that is a front man, who gets the talent and lets talented coaches game plan. And then you have the guys that are both (typically the elite) like Saban and Urban Myer.
In Butch's case, I think he is a recruiter/ front man type that sees himself as a guy that is also an offensive guru. To me, it is a road block for his success. He didn't design this offense, rich Rod did 12 years ago. If he were to take the Dabo approach and be the guy that recruits like crazy but let's other people scheme for game day, I think you would see similar results. Jmho. What do y'all think. I might be way off.
