We are slowly seeing happen what I have been predicting ever since the Virginia Tech game. Butch had the team this year to win the East and fell short in a rather embarrassing fashion to be frank. We were handed the East on a silver platter on two separate occasions and were unable to handle our end. You can try to claim injuries or no S&C or whatever else you want to claim. The bottom line is that the pieces were in place and there was not a single team in the East this year capable of beating us. It's hard to play the "if" game, but we were quite literally a missed extra point and a failed Hail Mary away from being 6-6 (you could argue that the "if" game could have given us A&M, so maybe 7-5).

IMO, Butch is not the guy to finish this job here. He did an unbelievable job getting us to this place, and I am very grateful for that. He just simply won't be able to finish the job IMO. I have claimed all year that we would start to see poor recruiting and a slow roster decline similar to what we saw in Dooley's last year/two years. We are now seeing that with how this class is going. Huge credit to Butch and the assistants for landing Trey Smith, but that seems to be the only big player that they are going to pull this year. That is simply not enough to restock the talent that we are losing after this season, period. Barring an unbelievable season from JG, we will have a much inferior roster next year compared to this year.

I love Tennessee football. I would not miss watching a game or being there in person for the world. You won't find a bigger fan than myself at my age (21). I attended the national championship game with my dad, but sadly have very little memory of it, if any at all. All I want is to see our team be good again. Whether or not you believe the claims of the 247 article, that is the perception of our program under Butch Jones by the outside population, including recruits. I sadly believe this will get worse before it gets better again. I think we have missed the chance this year to make a move (unless its an NFL guy), so we will have to wait another year (which will even further exacerbate the problems that we are currently facing).

TL;dr: Butch embarrassingly under performed during our seemingly "make or break" season, and recruiting is now going to suffer because of it. Whether or not you believe the 247 article, that is the perception of our program by the outside world, including recruits. I think we missed our chance to make a move this year unless its an NFL guy.

Edit: I just wanted to throw in there before somebody tries to turn it towards this, that I couldn't care less what he has to say at a post game conference. This is about putting us on the track towards winning football games.
