Not saying other games were not important, but this one is huge. The expectations of this team is bigger than any year in 10 years. With the way we have been playing so far, everyone that watches college football is starting to think we are way over rated. Including a lot of our fans. Everyone in the country is still questioning weather CBJ has the ability to coach at this level. If we can win this game, it will go a long way in answering those two questions. Even more sadly, it will also go a long way in answering them if we lose also.
This game will decide the direction we go in for the rest of the season. A win would give this team a much need shot in the arm and very well could put us back on the path to being the football team we were expected to be this season. A loss will be hard to over come and put doubt in our players mind about their ability to win.
Not that this has much of a impact on our teams ability to play, but a lot of our fans are doubting this team and coaching staff. The players know this and have even reacted to it on social media. Our teams needs the fans behind it. It is sad when a 3-0 team has to get on twitter and respond to fans by saying that the fans have forgot where we just came from as a program. We have some of the most passionate fans in college football and can support our team in huge ways. The players need it, the coaches need it and we the fans need it. I am afraid that a loss would put a even bigger wedge between the team and it's fans because of the reaction a lot of fans will have publicly. On the other hand, a win could get the entire fan base drinking the orange cool aid. CBJ needs this more than anyone. It's one thing to have the media questioning your ability, but a totally different thing to have your fans questioning it.
Breaking the losing streak will be huge for everyone involved with Vols football. I cannot remember a single game with so much riding on it. I have been in Neyland for some big wins, but this could be the biggest win I've ever witnessed in person. Last years UGA win was big, but a win Saturday will make that one look like a infomercial. I can't wait to be a part of the celebration. Even more than that, I can't wait for my 7 year old son be a part of it. He absolutely loves UT football. He watches every game from start to finish and will watch each game several times through the week on DVR. His favorite TV show is the CBJ show. I've never seen a kid so into college football and Saturday could be a day he never forgets.
This is no doubt the biggest game in the last 10 years. I can feel a win coming. I think this game will be where CBJ solidifies his legacy as UT's football coach and answers a lot of questions about his ability. I think this game will be the turning point of our season and put us on the path of playing as good as the team we are. We will shut all the doubters up this weekend and I can't wait to see all the sport experts eat crow. Go Vols!!!!
