IMO, when Butch originally interviewed Scott to hire him, he had a rough idea that Debo would be done after the next season and told L Scott that if he proved himself over the course of the next year, he would be first in line to interview for OC job when Debo leaves, if he wanted it. Scott liked that and signed on. As the year went on and it became more clear that Debo would leave after the season, Butch went to Scott and said here is your on the job interview. Over the course of the last 4 games of the season, Scott was integral in the game planning and sat next to Debo in the box to get on the job training with live game play calls and having a say so in calls in game situations. This has been said several times. Jones was impressed with Scott over the past year, specifically in the past 2+ months to feel comfortable with Scott as his next OC. Now it gives Jones the opportunity to interview QB candidates with his new OC to ensure a fit, especially for such an important hire with QB coach, which Jones did not have the last 2 years, and having a new starting QB next season. Whatcha think? Seems somewhat logical.
