Evan Russell recently tied Todd Helton’s career home run record of 38. Helton did it in three years, this is Russell’s 5th year. Also relief pitcher Redmon Walsh just tied Helton‘s record for career saves. Helton did it in three years this is Walsh’s fifth year.

How many people in history would hold the record for saves and home runs on their collegiate baseball team? I would think that’s pretty rare. No wonder Helton was National Player of the Year.

Oh and he is also the only quarterback to start a football game with Peyton Manning on the bench.

When we talk about greatest athletes in Tennessee history Helton has to be top 5 IMO.
