THOMAS LISTS FINAL FIVE
Jeff Thomas gave a look at who's in the race to land his commitment Monday night on his Twitter page. The electric East St. Louis wide receiver listed Miami, Illinois, Louisville, Oregon and Tennessee. Earlier in the weekend he promised to announce his commitment if he reached 10,000 followers. He pushed past that number on Monday.
The 5-foot-10 and 167-pound Thomas made national waves when he was awarded one of two most valuable player awards at the Under Armour All-American when he caught three passes for 148 yards and scored two touchdowns. Thomas set the record for most receiving yards in the all-star competition. The record had been 120 yards, which was held by Terry Hawthorne, a former East St. Louis standout and current assistant coach for the Flyers. Hawthorne spent four years at Illinois before pursuing a professional career.
Thomas has given indications he likes Illinois a great deal but has also scheduled visits to Louisville, Miami and Tennessee. Thomas caught 58 passes for 1,198 yards and scored 15 touchdowns.
