For me I think I came up with the following breakdown.
I give my likes approximately 20% of the time if I agree with something that's been said (a comment or retort of some sort)
About 20% of the time it's because I see something I find interest (gif, image, story, etc).
80% of the likes I give are for a laugh, you always get a like if the post makes me laugh.
