I first knew of Wilbert in high school when we scrimmaged his Brownsville team. I remember thinking, that's the best player in the state. Sure enough, he was. We met formally years later and worked together. Everyone loved Wilbert. I brought him in again at my present job and we rekindled our friendship. Again, everyone loved Wilbert. His health was really ailing and I told him to leave and take care of himself. Wilbert had a heart transplant and was doing really well. I called him today at 12:09 to catch up and see how he was doing. He didn't answer. I learned an hour later that he had passed. I couldn't even speak. Wilbert always had a smile on. He was one of the most positive persons I've ever met .You couldn't help but love the guy. He shared some great Vol stories about his playing day at UT. I'm sorry this is so long, but my heart is really hurting right now. I'm gonna miss you ole buddy.
