Rob Lewis will be joining the staff as a writer at Volquest.com beginning this week.
Rob brings experience in both sports writing and recruiting coverage to his duties here.
Rob, a native of Newport, TN, is a graduate of Emory & Henry College in Virginia. He has worked in the sports department for the Cleveland Daily Banner in Cleveland, TN, and as the sports editor for the Newport Plain Talk in Newport, TN, where he covered a variety of topics, including University of Tennssee football and basketball.
Since 1999 Rob has worked with Bob Gibbons, publisher of Bob Gibbons All-Star Report, covering high-profile events for the newsletter and website while helping to evaluate high-school basketball talent from around the nation. Rob followed the basketball recruiting world closely in this capacity, and will undoubtedly bring some valued insight from that perspective to his work here at Volquest.com.
Lewis is a little skittish about being pigeonholed as a basketball guy though.
“I’m quick to point out that though I have a strong background in basketball and basketball recruiting, I don’t want to give the impression that I can’t quote the two-deep coming out of spring practice,” he said.
Lewis is a lifelong Volunteer fan who is looking forward to getting started here at Volquest.
“I’ve enjoyed Volquest for quite sometime now," Lewis said. "So I’m really excited about the opportunity to work with Brent to help Volquest continue to be the number one spot on the world wide web for information about University of Tennessee athletics.”
Lewis lives in Dandridge with his wife Deborah and their six-month old son, Dylan.
