There has been a trend developing in Tennessee’s SEC road losses the past two seasons.
In those SEC road losses, Tennessee has been unable to bring the intensity that they play with it at home. A big part of that is, they seem to give a little effort on the defensive side of the football.
Today’s lost Missouri and last year’s lost to South Carolina. We’re eerily similar and that the defensive players gave a little effort to tackle or cover the opposition.
I think a big part of that is that Tennessee has laid some turds with the defensive game plans put forth in those games. South Carolina and Missouri were able to focus in target particular players on the field, who were obviously how to position in unable to make the plays. Today, there was no effort to hit anybody today. Our linebackers were at a play on every other play from the line of scrimmage.
I think that Josh Heupel has done all that he can do with the current staff. He has a lot of talent that is on board in coming on board this next year. It is time that Josh Heupel looks into the mirror and deep into his soul and make some changes to the coaching staff. We are not going to get better defensively without better defensive game plans that put our players in position to make plays and not get their ass whipped all game long.
I think it’s more than a trend. It’s just the fact this is what’s happening to this program time and time again on the road..
