Ok, I wanted to get a few different perspectives here based on a particular scenario. The scenario is the opponent has the ball on their end of the fifty and it is 3rd and 15. Who is YOUR defensive front 4?
Mine would be:
DE - Kyle Phillips
DT - Derek Barnett
DT - Johnathan Kongbo
DE - Darrell Taylor
My thinking is from all accounts I've read Phillips is one of our best speed rushers and does well tracking down the ball carrier if the QB should pull it and scramble. Barnett doesn't really require an explanation. Kongbo gives us a good blend of speed and power in the interior and lining him up next to Barnett will likely give Kongbo an individual matchup with the opponents second best interior lineman. Taylor on the other edge for just sheer speed reasons. All of the other players will eliminate help on Taylor's side and I think he's a good enough athlete to apply enough pressure to force a quick decision by the QB.
This is my lineup what is your's?
Edit - if we go to a defensive front three mine would be:
DE - Phillips
NT/DT - Barnett
DE - Vereen
