Anyway, somethings been bugging me since last game and I've watched the replay over and over and cannot seem to understand it so I'll ask for someone here to explain it to me.
Setup:
It was a beautiful fall day as the Florida Gators slithered up the banks of the Tennessee River to take on the Tennessee Volunteers. ...
Ok, ...fast forward...9:17 left in the 3rd Quarter, Tennessee driving, 2nd and 2 from the Florida 37.
Dobbs hands off the Hurd for a run off the left side for a gain to the Florida 17.....First Down!
Not so fast gator breath, there was a block in the back by #25 at around the 29 yard line....bring it back....
Ref says block in the back, 10-yard penalty.....down is still the second except now there's 3 to make first.
Say what?
Was the foul actually somewhere else on the field? I cannot see how a 10 yard penalty results in a 1 yard loss, replay the down.
