...even though there's obvious service, you have an option.
I have an iPhone7S (yes, it's old), and yesterday, it started giving me this problem. Great timing, since no retail/service centers are open. I couldn't send/receive and calls or messages, unless I had wifi signal...and then it was text-only. I received a prompt that said this would be the case, until I downloaded the latest iOS. I tried...and it said I was no longer connected to wifi...even though I was. I tried two more times. Then went the old fashioned route, and tried to update through iTunes, etc.
After spending five hours trying every way possible, I ran across an Apple notice that mentioned a recall for certain phones behaving in this manor. They had narrowed down four different models, distributed to different parts of the globe, that had this problem. And, of course...mine was one.
So, at 10:30 pm, I'm on an online chat w/ an Apple tech, who confirms my problem, and phone model/serial number, and recommends that I go to one of three service centers for replacement of the device....but they're all closed.
So, thank goodness Number One Son still has his most recent Verizon iPhone, so I'm gonna go grab it, and at least get up and running. It might be a week or more, until I can get my replacement, in this environment.
I'm not bitching. I'm really trying to be more informative than anything. With the latest replacement models costing upwards of $1000, NO ONE wants to spend that kind of money, in this economic environment. If you're experiencing this problem with your iPhone, google the topic. You might be in luck...
Personally, I'm glad my son is a hoarder!
