Oklahoma only allowed a total of 9 sacks ALL of last year over 13 games which ranked them #1 in the country!!!!! I think Dobbs was sacked 6 times against Missouri.
While the Oklahoma OL is totally different this year you cannot totally ignore the fact that part of the reason for the low number of sacks is that they were #10 in rushing offense. You don't get sacked if you are running the ball all damn day. When you do finally pass the defense is so used to you running it that they fall for play action plays and get caught on sneaky long pass plays or quick passes. Either option does not allow teams to get many sacks.
What I am saying is that the key to UT making Oklahoma pay for having an inexperienced OL is stopping the run. If our greatly increased depth at DT can stack up the middle and we can stop or greatly slow down the running game then we can finally put much more pressure on their OL.
The whole key to the Oklahoma game will be our DL ability to stop to slow down the OK running attack. I think we are MUCH better shape to do exactly that this year not only because we have much more depth and talent but also because their OL will not be as good. So our DL should clog up the middle which will free our LB's from getting blocked by their OL like last year. Last year the Oklahoma OL did not have to double team any DL we had and could target our LB's which would mean big yardage for their Rb's. It is gong to be a totally different story this year as we will be running a couple of impact freshmen in at DT who will be nice and fresh and ready to rip them apart!!!
