Hurd had a unique style that was Rigginesque. I enjoyed his violent style, but I NEVER thought he was in the league of Lewis,Webb,Cobb, Garner,Stewart etc. I put him in the same class with Riggs,Houston,Foster.
Hurd has had an eye n the NFL forever. Problem is that he lacked that extra gear and burst of speed. I knew it, despite being called out on this board for saying it. He was never as good as Fournette or a
Healthy Chubb.
Hurd knew it too, when he went to Ca to train this summer expressing his concerns of only having three carries over 30 yards despite carrying 277 times last season. He also was concerned about his ability to make people miss.
When App S bottled him up, it was apparant he had changed his style and was looking to hit a home run. Something his body doesn't allow him to do. I think Hurd became disillusioned.
A lot of us knew that he was too tall to be an elite rb. I always felt to get to the NFL he should play olb or te. He was a great athlete to play those positions. I think he has been told he will be a free agent as rb. I think others with NFL connections have told him he needs to move to te. That's where the position change talk is coming from.
