For how long do you think Mahoney knew he wasn't going to be retained? I assume b/c of their friendship, Butch handled the situation respectfully and Mahoney had to have known for quite some time.
If that were the case, I give Mahoney credit for being a professional during recruiting, etc knowing he was going to be released/resigned to a new deal.
