1. Obviously start with QB1 , I don’t see how / why playing him down the stretch benefits our program one bit. Haven’t for a year since Bama last year. We ran a game plan for a FR yesterday and played a 5th year guy in his 40th career game. Most disappointed to have to watch yet again. For fans and players (more later)it continues to suck the life and excitement out of the program.

2. QB 2
How in the world is this position not identified yet. We are now over 3 months into the season. Whoever it is should have played against Mizzou and Georgia both 23 point games and been ready when JG faltered yet again last week.
3 guys have played “backup” duties , again makes no sense from a coaching or development standpoint.
We heard all summer Shrout was #2 and about his development and tremendous progress. Yet after a big gain and a 1st down the team is penalized into a 2 & 21 and he forces a late throw for a pick and now he’s QB 4?!
Maurer was in the doghouse ,the #4 guy and seemed on the way out , yet 6 days later he’s QB2. Shocking ,this is pop Warner level stuff not SEC and D1 coaching

3. Defensive alignment:
We’ve spent many timeouts and missed many assignments. Yet yesterday we still had many busts it seems in getting lined up correctly and execution. So late getting lined up for plays and it looks like it leads to confusion consistently! This still not being fixed or addressed is upsetting!

4. Refusal to play young guys in blowouts
So why didn’t the backups QBs play in games with 23 point margins ?! Why was JG in a 4 TD game yesterday in the 4th quarter ? Where are the young WRs and DBs yesterday ?
They can’t develop if they don’t play!
The practice excuse is beyond stupid.

5. Team togetherness
They tell us the Team is behind QB1, yet last week no one went over to comfort him after the second pick six in 8 minutes.
Some leaders of the team tweeted photos of other QBs during the week and seems fairly obvious they don’t have #2s back. Then yesterdays 4th quarter exploded with Brandon Johnson obviously frustrated and having to be restrained after the 4th down pass to him was way off the mark and should’ve been picked.

I honestly don’t want another coaching search and don’t think we need one. However these 5 things Are very alarming to me. The fan base is obviously done with QB1 and now it seems the team is as well.
Add in the excuses now with covid and JG has been a “little banged up”. Which again makes no sense with him being in a 28 point game in the 4th quarter if he’s “your best option.”
That’s dangerous territory a coaching staff is going by the stubborn refusal to give someone else another look and starting to make excuses and off the wall statements like yesterdays offensive performance “was one of the better ones we’ve had”.
Sad statements like this make the Ice super thin with fans and remind us of another Alabama assistant coach.
