I think it's close enough to NSD to start asking how they’re going to make the numbers work.

We’ve currently got 28 commitments. I know we signed a total of 23 last year, including Jeremy Lewis (terrible move), so in theory we can backcount 2 from last year and “sign” 27 total. Right?

Thoughts on the following theories?

1) We’d take all of Conliffe (1/31), Ray (NSD) and Sterling (NSD). We likely won’t get all 3, of course. But I think we get at least one, and we’ll know on Conliffe before NSD

2) We lose/drop Jacquez Jones – either he’s not solid and/or he may have academic concerns given his visits have been to USF and UCF

3) We blueshirt or greyshirt Cimaglia and Fant

4) #2 and #3 would get us to 25, with Murphy still in question. Would leave room for 2-3 more (if we can in fact sign 27)

Next questions:

5) Do you think the staff will know what Ray is going to do after tonight?

6) Is Butch going inhome with Sterling before he goes to Columbia? Is that one pretty much done anyway?

7) How do you think the staff will play it with Pouncey? His situation seems to be tied to Murphy, but you’d think we would need to push hard this weekend in order to land him – do you think the staff does that regardless of whether they know Murphy is solid? That is, do you think they want a 4th WR (after Palmer/Fant, assuming Jones is a goner, and if Murphy is a Vol), or do you think they only would try and sign Pouncey if Murphy bails?

8) Similar question for Matthews. Not that he’s related to Murphy per se as they play different positions, but in terms of a spot. That is, do you think (or think the staff thinks :)) he’s good enough to theoretically use a spot that could otherwise be used for 2018?

Bonus question: 9) Do you think we might try and blueshirt greyshirt Payton since he has academic issues?

Editing to note that Murphy is tweeting all the right things...
