On Tatum...

Marcus has been one of those guys who has really worked himself into getting playing time. He still has a long ways to go in his physical development. He will be better for getting to play against Alabama. He's working very hard. Very proud of him and his maturing process. Very athletic, and very long. It's amazing his physical development in a short period of time. He's eating around the clock.

On why final five is a greater grind than the first seven....

The first seven game stretch, I'm really proud of this team. Probably toughest schedule we have played. Now, you are going into playing teams that have constantly grown and improved. The more you win, the more that's at stake. Based on your early season success you are going to get everyone's a game. One of the next steps for the development of a program is handling success. You have to keep growing and elevate your play. We were alot of homecoming games when we first got here.

On punt returns...

Alot of confidence in Josh Smith. We have confidence in alot of guys. You could see alot of different guys back there.

Needing help at receiver...

Brandon Johnson is a guy who is gaining trust and more playing time. It's about how you prepare during the week. We are going to need some individuals to step up. Those who are playing are doing a very good job everyday (citing Josh Malone's practice habits).

On run defense....

Consistency across the board is the issue with defending the run. Whether it's a run fit, losing leverage, etc. You can't beat yourself. You have to communicate better.

Jones said the communication issues isn't because of a new scheme. You have to verbalize it. You have to talk, you can't text it or tweet it. Not going to use injuries as an excuse.

On two years ago...

The mark of a great qb is the ability to lead your team from behind on the road for a win. That night was big in his evolution to be the quarterback here. He earned alot of respect from everyone that night.

On safety if Abernathy can't go...

Evan Berry gained alot of confidence last week, good to have him back. Nigel has had a good week. He's been upbeat. His task is to continue to focus on the little things.
