The fact that I have this thought makes me feel sick inside, but I am going to "verbalize" it anyway.......knowing that it is looking way too far ahead.
Our chances of making the playoff will likely be better if we lose "game 1" against Alabama in Neyland than if we win it. The chances of going 1-1 against them are much better than going 2-0 if we're being honest with ourselves, as they have continually piled up talent. There would be an outside shot at sliding in if we were 12-0 and then lost a close game to an 11-1 Alabama in Atlanta, but being 11-1 and beating an 11-1 or 12-0 Alabama team in Atlanta would make us a playoff lock.
All of this would be moot, of course, if LSU could have a decent QB......or if we somehow can't beat a freshman Jacob Eason despite having very possibly the most DE talent of any college football team in ............ a large number of years.
