"Champions of life" was taken out of context and blown out of proportion. The trolls and wise guys on here from other fanbases are having fun with it. Don't respond to their posts and responses enough, and they'll go away or stop posting altogether.
As for our future. Butch is getting some mean SOB's on our o-line. It'll be interesting to see what he does with Coach Mahoney. Our OL will be key as to how our offense performs in 2017. Gone are the days that very young qb's such as Guarantano can't come in and be a difference maker throwing the ball. Both he and Dormady will need protection from the o-line though, especially Dormady since he isn't nearly as mobile. We are in great shape at RB and WR. Coach Scott is a very good coach at developing TE's. I'm not worried in that department either.
I expect a whole lot of changes assistant coach-wise on the defensive side of the ball. Our linebackers and defensive backs need to be developed much better especially in the area of pursuit angles and tackling. A great recruiter at LB coach would be nice too. We're going to be healthier at DT which I'm convinced has a lot to do with our struggles stopping the run. Coach Shoop has not forgotten how to run a defense. He was good at Vanderbilt and Penn State. James Franklin would not have brought him to Penn State from Vanderbilt if he wasn't good. Penn State fought to try to keep him there too before Butch hired him. Overall, I think our defense will be solid but not lights out in 2017. We'll be better than we are this year though.
All of this combined with an easier schedule and I see 10 or 11 wins. We absolutely can sweep the east and go to the SECCG. Don't doubt Butch. The trolls year after year say Butch can't do this or Butch can't do that (beat teams with winning records, beat top 25 teams, beat Florida, etc). Guess what? He's proving them wrong every year by taking the next step. He's going to win the east very soon. Book it.
