From 8-5-16:

Jack Jones is off to a strong start in fall camp along the offensive line. Jones is not only getting reps with the 1s, but also garnering almost all of the reps with the 2s and 3s at right guard. It's a strong testament for the Murfreesboro native who lives, eats and breathes Tennessee football.

*Good thing he didn't start in the beginning of the year

From 8-12-16:

"Back to the team, while there was surprise in Baylen Buchanan losing his black stripe first, there was no surprise in Nigel Warrior having his stripe removed. Warrior has had a very good camp and doesn't appear in anyway to be overwhelmed with anything. As camp has gone on and more defense has been installed, it's not slowed down Warrior. But no one is putting Warrior in the starting line up at this point."

*And neither did Shoop

The defensive line continues to impress this coaching staff and have been nearly dominant at times during practice. The talent of the defensive line is part of the reason you don't hear a sense of panic when you hear the coaches talk about finding five offensive linemen. Shoop has spoke openly about his depth and how much he likes his defensive ends. There's a real rotation there that Shoop wants to play and some of those guys will play inside. While many have included Kongbo high in that rotation it's important to remember he still has alot to learn to be an every down player and being limited this week in practice was a bit of a set back in his growth and development as they installed a lot of defense. The very athletic Kongbo needs to get healthy to play a little catch up for the time he has missed.

There's a real sense the Vols will be fine up front on offense and it's not necessarily a shortcoming of the offensive line that is leading to the success of the defensive line, instead just the reality that the group is pretty special. But Saturday will be big for that offensive line competition. Drew Richmond has had a good week at left tackle, playing faster, more physical and with more confidence making the battle at right tackle a bit more intriguing between Chance Hall and Brett Kendrick.

The Vols have had a busy week of hosting scouts as nearly half the league had representatives to check out what most believe is a roster with several NFL talents.

*8-4 pholks

From 8-19-16:

What will be interesting is just how much contact Jones puts his team through the next seven days to move into game week. On Thursday, around 10 players weren't dressed with the Vols during practice, but as Butch Jones reiterated on Thursday, all but Chance Hall are thought to be 'camp bumps and bruises.' But, it will be worth monitoring who all is out on the field this time next week as the Appalachian State game creeps closer.

***Hmmmm, interadastting coming from Butch.

Moseley has had six interceptions during hall camp according to a few observers and has played at a different level than at any time since he's been at Tennessee.

Even with the play of Moseley, Jones still feels like his defense isn't creating enough turnovers. That’s one concern about the ‘Orange Swarm’, but for the most part this coaching staff is very happy about the depth and ability the group has.

*Backups on D played well though, no?

As everyone knows, Butch Jones is looking for innovative ways to have an edge. One interesting note this camp is an outside person, a consultant named Bill Rodgers, has been watching some practices, sitting in on some meetings and has been conducting an evaluation on the team from a personality standpoint. This person has visited with players and monitored them in order to label their personalities. It’s a practice designed to give the coaching staff more information and even a better feel for their team.

*What was Hurd's personality type?

It's been clear by many comments from players and coaches, this is a confident, talented team. It's also a team that has gained confidence this month after seeing the fruits of their labor this summer. Strength coach Mike Szerszen implemented several big changes this off-season focusing on more explosion training and core training with their hips. Szerszen can see the results and has been hearing about them as well since the first days in pads.

“I can definitely see the results,” Szerszen said. “You can see it in their hips. You can see it in how they are coming off the ball. They did a great job with it this summer and we continue to work on it every time we are in the weight room. I can definitely tell a difference in their start, their pop, and their hips.

“In talking to them they say they can feel the difference. That's the biggest reward for me, the feedback I get from the players about how much better they feel.”

*My God, is this real life?
