Tennessee working out at MBA former home of RA Dickey and the Bartholomew's. The Vols getting work done outside in one of two practice this week in Nashville.
Tomorrow is no sweat day (game week Thursday) and the Vols will do everything at the Opryland Hotel. Thursday the Vols will workout again either back at MBA or at Nissan Stadium.
As for Tuesday's work, it's a final run through of the game plan with an early emphasis on special teams and fundamental work. Alvin Kamara and Cam Sutton were the main cogs fielding kicks. But we did see Josh Smith and Marquez Callaway field some punts.
In terms of offense and defense, lots of work on fundamentals with leverage work for the ol and the dl. Also, a good bit of work on angles in tackling for the safeties and linebackers in open field work.
Everyone who is healthy is here. There is the always debate of do they want to be here. Are the focused or into it? They looked focus and they seemed into it. It's always hard to say for sure unless something happens like a player arguing with a strength coach which I witnessed at the Fiesta Bowl after the 1999 season.
From Austin:
I thought Darren Kirkland Jr. looked to be closer than any point since his return. Also in the linebacker individual drills was Todd Kelly Jr for a few reps. After that, he returned to his normal spot at safety. Could a package be in the works for this game? Makes sense to me.
I thought Brandon Johnson looked good but this is still going to be a game dominated by the running game with Josh Malone getting a ton of targets. There wasn't any nonsense at practice and they looked plenty focused in my estimation.
