From the war room: We’ve heard some speculation around the program that Fulkerson may not be in the starting line-up on Saturday in an attempt from Barnes to send him a wake-up call
My thoughts: Right answer, wrong reason. Bring Fulky off the bench not to give him a wake up call, but because the best thing for this team is to be playing our 3 point guard line up + the defensive versatility of JJJ and Olivier. Fulkerson is an exceptional counter punch off the bench, but he’s not what we should lead with. Uros and Powell provide good supplemental skills off the bench to that main group too.
From the war room: Barnes’ frustration with Powell came from what the head coach said was an unwillingness to take shots when opportunities presented themselves
My thoughts: You can’t have it both ways Rick, you can’t harp on guys all the time for every mistake they make and then harp on them some more for not taking shots when they over listen and try not to take bad shots.
It’s easy to sit here an nit pick the guy that has been doing this his entire life. I fully realize that he is where he is because of how much attention to detail he has and his high standard for execution. Many times our greatest strengths are overused and have shadow sides that hurt us. That’s what I see with Barnes. Always critiquing, for better and for worse. Just needed to vent my frustrations - really don’t want to see the Vols flame out in March playing tight again.
