I recently purchased a house at auction that I am completely remodeling. It was build in 1965 and had wood paneling and tile ceilings. It also only has 1 small full bathroom and one half bath that was very awkward. We had all the ceilings and walls taken out and are going to drywall everything. We are also adding on a master bath in an area that was just sitting on a slab and being used for utility room. We updated all the plumbing and the electrical was current except for it still used a 200amp fuse panel which we are replacing.

My questions and need for advise comes from some design ideas my contractor is throwing out there. He is suggesting bullnose corners on the drywall and wanting to put in rounded arches to the open areas leading into the kitchen and dining room. He is new to the contractor business and has gained all his experience finishing modular homes in the mid state area. Are these design ideas popular in most homes today or are they a fad in the modular home market? We want to "modernize" the home as much as possible while it is being remodeled, but I am not sure what things are being done lately. Any advise on little touches that we could easily do now to add appeal to the home would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, we are planning on living at this house and not looking nessisarily at flipping it quickly and for a profit.
