Honestly, Butch Jones had great football teams in 2015 & 2016. Just like the fact that Derek Dooley had a great football team in 2012.....
Look back at the results from those 3 years (2012, 2015, & 2016) and what theme do you notice in all of them?
INCREDIBLE TALENT.....but underperformed greatly! And not just once or twice, but MULTIPLE times in each of those seasons. We lost MULTIPLE games we should have won in each of those seasons.
Those were 3 great Tennessee Football teams (2012, 2015, & 2016) that all UNDERACHIEVED in LARGE PART because of coaching...
We need a HOMERUN coach.
We (The Fans) DEMAND a HOMERUN coach.
We Deserve a HOMERUN COACH.
This shouldn't even be debated....
Tennessee HAS the money
Tennessee HAS the traditions
Tennessee HAS the passionate fan base...
Tennessee HAS the playmakers and are able to get ELITE recruits...

"What do you think (Nick Saban, Chip Kelly, Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, Jon Gruden, Dabo Swinney, James Franklin, etc...) could have achieved with those same exact Tennessee teams in 2012, 2015, & 2016??"
The reality = All we are needing is a Homerun coach. It's the final piece of the Tennessee Puzzle.
The sad reality is that you can insert many other coach's names into that sentence that aren't even on the level of Urban Meyer's of the world...... but are still leagues above Butch Jones & Derek Dooley. Hell, even Lane Kiffin could have won a lot more games than Butch Jones is winning, and we deserve a hell of a lot better than Loser Lane Kiffin.
Bottom Line. We've got to spend the big bucks on our Head Coach to compete with the teams that spend the big bucks on their Head Coaches...It's that simple. We won't be elite until we spend money on our head coach and start acting like we ARE the elite program that we show on every other level of our program....
Look at Florida for example, they got extremely lucky with hiring Urban Meyer but do you fear them now? Do you feel like they are on the verge of being ELITE under Jim McElwain? Did you ever feel like they could achieve ELITE status with Will Muschamp? Hell no. look at Florida now.... they won't be feared again until they hire an ELITE coach, and it's no different for us. It's no different for South Carolina after Steve Spurrier left....they are not feared any longer....
Phillip Fulmer was the last coach for the University of Tennessee that other teams feared to play. Now, Kentucky, Vandy, and South Carolina don't ever fear us....they expect to BEAT us and BELIEVE they can.
I bleed orange and I want nothing more than Butch Jones to finish this season 10-3, but we need a new coach in Knoxville. We won't ever be an elite National football program again until the moment that Butch Jones is out of Knoxville and we have a homerun coach leading the Vols! Pay the man what he wants and get him in Knoxville!
