In terms of hard news on the recruiting front, it was a slow day. Not much actual talk coming from Tennessee's top targets heading into signing day, but that's not unexpected.

A lot of questions about Nigel Warrior sprung up mid day as some pundits predicted him to Auburn. We continue to believe that Tennessee has the best shot at Warrior come Wednesday morning and will likely be the eventual landing spot.

There remains plenty of chatter with Auburn and Derrick Brown as well. Some believe UGA is much more in the mix heading into the final day. What we do know is that Brown has yet to tell Tennessee yes or no. We don't believe he's told Auburn no or yes, either.

Tennessee's staff and even a few players continue to communicate with Jonathan Kongbo and from several we've talked to today we believe those conversations have been positive. We're not sure if the Vols have been given a firm answer, but there has been some movement in the right direction from what we're told.

What's interesting is that we believe from talking to several in Oxford that he has yet to give Ole Miss a firm answer either way as well. He continues to communicate with the Rebel coaching staff and they are holding off on a few players before they have an answer, almost an identical situation with Tennessee.

Florida State also feels like they are still in it and as of today haven't received a definite answer. The same could be said for Southern Cal in regards to an answer.

So, take from that what you may, but at least from a Tennessee standpoint, there have been positive conversations. It's worth remembering that Tennessee's staff and players have always felt they have a great rapport with Kongbo while Freeze connection is with the father.

On to Tyler Byrd. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of panic regarding Byrd as the Vols are still making a push there. The worry from some is if it's taking too long and that's a legitimate question. We know he's communicated with both Miami and Tennessee staffs and Miami feels like there's still a chance to hold on to him.

But, Byrd headed into the weekend and out of his visit very much feeling the Vols and we think that is still the overriding feeling as of right now. As this goes on another day, though, it does become more interesting.

While things are going to be very interesting down the stretch regarding the number we are told not to count either Latrell Williams nor Landon Dickerson out as of Monday night. While the defensive side of the ball remains the priority, depending on how things work out a late push could be made with either prospect.

It's looking less likely that Zack Moss will be a part of this class unless they miss on a number of targets down the stretch.
