Honest question? Has anyone ever questioned is leadership ability. I'll start off with a positive and say that Butch is a great manager of the game. It appears he has a process and strategic goal. I really question his ability to influence young men to perform at a high level. The body language of the players and the attitude of this team is somewhat passive.
Volquesters continuously argue about what a coach is suppose to do. Look at the impact Chris Peterson has had on Washington since he's been there. They aren't loaded in 4* or 5* recruits. Look at Butch's body language and how he interacts with the media. It seems like he has 10 scripted sentences he says in every press conference. There is a lot to be said about a person's emotional intelligence and its clear that Butch is lacking in that department.
Good leadership is separated by peoples charisma and influence. Does Butch intrinsically have these qualities or does he demonstratively demand things? In the military it is a staple to lead by example. Does Butch lead by example? When Butch addresses the media does he sound sincere when he says we have a sense of urgency or is it all lip service?
I'm sorry to rant but I want Butch to do well but he is the COACH and ultimately responsible for the welfare of this program. Every major team in college football has the ability to perform well but the catalyst is coaching. Do we have a coach that inspires subordinate coaches and demands excellence and provides proper coaching, mentoring, and training or do we have a coach that has a Monday meeting puts out his agenda and is a manager?
I expect to be ostracized by VQ'ers who argue against what a coach is suppose to do but I look forward to the discourse.
