This morning I was thinking about our nation under duress.
People are losing their income for a time, some companies will close for good, and so many daily activities and plans are being disrupted as all kinds of challenges abound.-
So the question is how will you and I respond as individuals and as a country?
During times of past crises in our nation's history Americans have pulled together as one and laid down petty political differences and other allegiances or biases that would threaten to divide us.
It was amazing to see the good ole USA respond after 9-11 as we all felt united and understood again American pride in our response to a terrible event.
THAT time in our history which reflected the greatness of our country's present and past was felt and appreciated by all.
It is an American spirit that lifts up those in need and feels more connected as folks step up during local, regional or national crises.
It is that heartbeat of our country that I hope we rediscover again during this time. It is a prayer that love will prevail and lay down the unhelpful rancor that extreme affiliations and ideologies promote.
As citizens of the greatest country on earth let us count our blessings more than we count our small differences.
May God bless the United States of America and its wonderful people as together we will rise!
