If a change is made with Chaney, would you like to see us go after Lebby, Longo, or someone else as his replacement?
Both can coach quarterbacks as well, so Weinke could be dismissed or reassigned too which could put another assistant coach elsewhere on the field where needed. Maybe even a true special teams coach?
It would likely require a nice pay raise and possibly an added title such as “associate head coach” or something.
Either way, both have proven they can groom a quarterback and feature exciting offenses. There’s nothing we need more right now.
Before some of you say “Pruitt’s on the hot seat. Nobody’s going to come here”, I kindly disagree. It wasn’t long ago at all that he received a contract extension. The only people who want him gone right now are some of our fans. If a bad stretch after running off the second longest winning streak in the nation places you on the hot seat then James Franklin, Scott Satterfield, and P.J. Fleck are sitting on one too which you know is ridiculous and not true. They may have a few radical fans from their fanbases who have them on hot seats, but it just isn’t reality.
This isn’t to say that if Pruitt has a similar season in 2021 his seat gets hot, because I think it certainly would for 2022, but it isn’t now. This is an opportunity for a talented OC/QB coach to step in and help get the wagon back on its wheels.
If our offense continues to flounder this year, this could be the type of move that Dabo Sweeney made with Chad Morris that saved him after there were fans grumbling in Clemson about him.
If I’m Pruitt, I do what I can to land one of these 2. If not one of them, then an OC who can coach quarterbacks as well. This along with keeping Tee as WR coach and Graham as RB coach would be a great start to jump starting the offense.
Thoughts?
