I’ve been on a kick of driving some sport & luxury sport cars on the weekend (Turo app rules). I’m starting to get a feel for what I really like, but I’m curious what you guys have driven/own and what you like the best.

Here is my list of cars I’ve driven...

  • 2019 Corvette Z71 Drop-top
    • Super fun.
    • Zero function.
    • You feel the power under you.
    • Next step: Drive a C8.
    • I love convertibles
  • Jaguar XJR LWB
    • Probably my overall favorite thus far.
    • Fast off the line. Fast from 60 to 120.
    • Engine sound is lacking.
    • Tons of function. Would be a great daily driver.
  • Tesla S
    • Full auto is wild. It works... 97% of the time. That 3% is scary.
    • Weird quirks. Hate that I’m locked into their software. Awful storage and drink holders for a daily commuter.
    • Really fast off the line. Poor at the top end.
    • Supercharging sucks!
    • It’s the future. But it’s going to be great in the future. The now is strange.
  • Maserati Ghibli
    • The engine is lovely to listen to.
    • Slow off the line, but gets after it once the supercharger kicks in. Phenomenal at the top end. 135 is easy.
    • Great lines and look. It’s a classy vehicle without that massive trident on the front grill. Should have gone small and let the car speak.
    • Poor tech. Not impressed at all.
  • Mustang GT 5.0 convertible
    • All muscle car. Love the sound of that exhaust.
    • Feels like an American made vehicle.
    • Nice job with the cockpit. Has the familiar feel of a Ford to me. So I’m comfortable in it.
    • It will boogie.
    • Lacks sex appeal and functionality.
I’ve ridden in a bunch more, but I’ve spent time with these guys. I’m not looking to buy anytime soon, but I am starting to get into the nuisances of sport cars.

What do you guys like?

Also... I fully recognize this is not a “who’s who” of car lists. No bragging... I’m just enjoying the journey of feeling out the different styles of finely tuned engines and the different style of each automaker.
