Anyone who has watched Florida play knows they want to run bigger personnel and run the ball. None of their backs are special but are all solid. They do an excellent job of giving you a lot of formations to handle, and they keep you honest with the play action pass.
I think our defensive ends will do a very good job vs this type of offense. Kongbo's size on the edge will come in handy. Barnett will do his thing. Vereen, although undersized, seems to play well vs these types of offenses. I do think Taylor will get tested and see if he can hold up at the point of attack. His athleticism will serve him well if they waggle back to his side.
I also have confidence in our interior guys. Danny O, Vickers, Shy, and Kahlil will give the Gator G's and C's a very hard time.
Linebacker run fits will be huge. It would be such a kick in the nuts to play well up front but a LB miss a run fit, or not be physical enough in their run fit to effectively defend the play. If JRM can go, thats obviously huge. If he can't McDowell has to play faster and get off blocks better. Jumper did well in space vs Ohio, but has to be stronger vs runs between the tackles. They will also have to handle the play-action waggle, but this is more of the safeties IMO.
Bynum could be an X-factor. He will do a good job of holding the edge vs the run. But if we ask him to play off the LOS, or drop in coverage much, he may or may not make the play... Very curious to how we defend out of the 4-3.
Safeties have to play with great eyes. If they can get involved in the run game, that is great, but I hope we are good enough in the front 7 to allow our safeties to get involved on the deep shots that UF will take.
Obviously we have to defend the run to win the game. But if Florida struggles to connect on their deep balls and we defend without penalties, that will be just as significant as stopping the run IMO.
