With no school in session, the Tennessee football team hit the indoor practice field Monday morning and in Vol fashion had an injury as receivers coach Zach Azzanni got hit by a Vol receiver and had to hop off the practice field. Former receivers coach and head coach Butch Jones jumped in to take his place.

Jones set the tempo early in practice and not with the typical circle of life drill. Jones jumped right into goal 11-on-11 and 1-on-1 work. And the defense set the early tone, winning the first six reps.

Josh Smith got the first offensive win in one on one on Malik Foreman. Quarterback Josh Dobbs got a win with Josh Malone over Emmanuel Moseley. In safety work, Eli Wolf and Latrell Williams both got wins over Nigel Warrior. Stephen Griffin had a PBU in a good play ripping the ball out of Jakob Johnson's hands.

Overall, the quarterbacks appeared to throw the ball well and you could see a different pep in both Quinten Dormady and Jared Guarantano's step, as well as in their eyes. The competition battle for 2017 is underway.

We also saw Alexis Johnson on the practice field appearing to be moving better than we have seen him move in the past few weeks.

On the player injury front, Darin Kirkland, Jr., Alvin Kamara, Rashaan Gaulden, and Mykil McDaniel were all in green jersey's.
