There was some progress made on a return to the season this weekend. The (alleged) proposal is a 24 team format with some games before jumping into the playoffs that would include all 24 teams.
The format looks like this: 6 teams from each division (with a few exceptions based on win %) based out of four city hubs.
1) Three weeks of on-ice training.
2) Then there would be about 10 day period that could potentially be a round robin.
3) Combine winning % + round robin win % would give the top 2 teams a bye and the bottom four would play a best of three series.
4) Then it’s basically back to the regular format with the Fair Play Committee determining the next hub prior to the Finals.
What do y’all think of this? Seems like it could generate a lot of competition and excitement. I’m foaming at the mouth for some playoff hockey, so anything sounds good.
