I've eaten Hattie B's a couple of times and thought it was excellent.....
Last night I went to Pepperfire In East Nashville...... They have 6 heat levels... Xtra Mild, Mild, Medium, Hot, Xtra Hot, and XtraXtraHot.....
I like hot stuff so I asked for Xtra Hot, which is one step down from the top.....The bearded hipster asked me if I was sure because it is pretty damn hot. I said that I like hot stuff and enjoyed the burn.....He said, that their Medium was like Hattie B's Hot (which is what I order there)....I said that I didn't think that Hattie B's hot was all that hot and that I could handle at least one step hotter maybe two, but I said that I would start out with Pepperfire's Hot instead of XtraHot...
It was late and they were only doing tenders, no pieces....He recommended the "Royal" which is tenders served over a grilled cheese, with you choice of sides.....I chose that with fried okra and collard greens. I loved it, but the "hot" is at least 3 levels higher that Hattie B's hot! I was sweating like a whore in church, even though it was cold on their patio!.... It was a good burn but the Xtra Hot or God forbid XtraXtraHot must melt the inside of your mouth!....Anyway I really enjoyed it and while the okra was the general freezer to fryer stuff, the collard greens were excellent......and the grilled cheese was great too, but I could only eat half.....damn that was a lot of food.....
Which Hot Chicken place should I try next??
