So, I had a student call me a n***er today.
I'm not sure there are too many professions [tho' I'm sure there are a few] wherein people are required to turn the other cheek quite so much as in education, especially with this generation of kids coming through today. Quite the respectful bunch, clearly.
A bit ironic that it happened just a few days after seeing some white supremacist dipdunks on the overpass on the way to the O&W Game with a sign saying, "It's great to be white." [Did anyone else see these fools?]
Maybe I'm rushing to judgement, tho'. Maybe they were just rooting against the Orange team.
Anyway, it's nice to be able to drop in on the ol' VQ and its own brand of lunacy... happily, it's an entertaining [and tolerable] sort of lunacy - a sort of fortress of football solitude.
Note: Given the responses I've seen thus far, I apologize for not having pointed out earlier that I'm White. Not trying to give anyone the wrong impression, and can say that if it got me quite as rustled as it did, I can only imagine how it would have felt if I were Black.
