I just don't think schools every really change their foundation and ETSU has never been even a decent football school. Oh sure the team has been very good for the level they were in and even made the playoffs. What I am saying is that the fans never really supported the team, the students never really supported the team, hells bells, even the former players never really supported the team. As far as I could tell almost no one ever went to the games regardless if the team won or lost. They even tried to get home games scheduled for as many weekends when UT played away and attendance never changed. Yes I know that there will be people who will blame it all on the dome and not being a good venue for college football but that is a load of bull. You could have ETSU playing in the equivalent of Neyland Stadium and it wouldn't make any difference. What I want to know is anyone really thinks that in 5 or 10 years will the program be any more popular than it was when they killed the program? Anyone want to take that bet? Sure lots of people are excited about the program right now but it is the honeymoon stage and if they didn't now of course they never wood. The question is how long does this last? Why is it going to be different this time around?

Of course I also remember when they cut the football program they claimed they would try and really push basketball to an elite status. They thought that because they had made it to march Madness that with some extra effort they could get even better but it was a dream nothing more. It was a blip that every school gets every so often.

As a side note, doesn't ETSU now have to have as many scholarships for women as they do for men? If that is true then what programs did they add to women sports or what programs did they cut from the men's?
