To preface this I grew up a Tennessee Fan since my dad graduated from UT and I am a UCF grad living in Orlando so I root for both teams. I have been keeping tabs on what the universities around the American have been doing and the money they have been spending to upgrade their facilities and coaching staffs. ECU has plans to renovate Dowdy-Ficklen

Cincinnati has finished their renovation of Nippert and are completely overhauling their basketball arena

While not big enough for P5 Tulane has a new stadium with expansion potential

and Houston has that brand new stadium as well

on top of the facility upgrades being made around the conference. Many of these Universities are starting to spend the money to get better coaches and better staffs. Houston bucked up and paid Tom Herman and kept him (granted some of that had to do with the situation at USCjr but they still paid him). Cincinnati is paying Tuberville a pretty penny. UCF dumped a bad aging coach and picked up Scott Frost from Oregon and then gave him one of the largest if not the largest salary pools in the G5 to assemble his staff. The American also added Navy last season. Uconn basketball speaks for itself as does Memphis basketball. UCF went and got Johnny Dawkins after Stanford fired him which is considered a coup since Dawkins wont have to deal with the Stanford admission requirements to recruit. While they don't have an on campus stadium USF is projected to be good for the near future at least. Memphis football's committee is still out with a new coach but they did pay Norvell to come to Memphis when he could have gotten a lower tear P5 job. I believe Chad Morris will do good things at SMU if he stays long enough. Obviously what Temple did last year on the field and then keeping Matt Rhule was huge for that university.

Like I said at the start, I am a UCF grad so I'm a little biased on the subject because I want to see them succeed and progress as a conference and a team (please no shots about last year because I've already heard them all, I personally think it was a fluke due to bad coaching. Think Dooley times ten). I wanted to ask this here because I wanted opinions from people and fans that wouldn't just agree with me because they have a vested interest in the American teams. Do you think it would be a good thing to go to P6 or do you think in the future it stays P5 and the conferences just expand their memberships?

For those that take the time to read this and give their opinions I thank you.
