I am going to go with 35 instances for the average SEC news consumer before the end of day Friday. This includes TV, print, Web/Social and radio mentions on how many media credentials were issued, how the event has grown, mentions of the Winfrey Hotel or what media members do or eat while in Birmingham, critiques of individual coach's demeanors while being questioned, descriptions of travel plans for said media members, etc. bonus points for any 2016 mention of how Spurrier used to answer their questions...
This event is so stupid (other than being something to do in July when it is boring). You could read transcripts of the combined interviews over the last 20 years and not really find one shred of difference in what was actually said by any coach, player or media member, yet it gets hyped up like it is what gets the season kicked off.
Everyone could just stay home and do an extra 20 minute press conference on how the incoming freshman look and the status of off season conditioning and the fans would be happier.
