I think the thing to remember, when grinding my teeth over that Georgia and Bama class is that Tennessee just went 4-8. If I'm a kid that's been recruited for a long time to GA and Bama, and I just saw the years they had, it would be VERY attractive. Georgia has a VERY easy and persuasive recruiting speech. Combined with what the Vols have been. I'm thankful Coach Pruitt took the job, and he showed his character by standing with men he recruited at Alabama in that natty. That kind of character will go a long way. Remember when we had coaches like Coach O who left, and was calling our recruits to steal them? That is NOT a team to be proud of, if that is your coach. I'm hoping, and believing, that Coach Pruitt will not take the short cuts. He certainly tried to get his portion of the 5 stars, and did well to get them on campus, but we are just too pounded down after Butch Jones. I believe it will happen, and will be good. And I'm not a very "glass half full" kind of guy. I really think though that it is in this case.
Ask yourself this. would you take a top 10 class, AND Butch Jones still as our coach, or, would you want what we have, being organically built from the ground up? There is NO doubt that this coaching staff would coach circles around the last staff. I'm all in personally. Next year a bowl game and maybe a good solid win or two will be great. Once the staff has these long relationships with the future recruits, things will be different. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
PS, I believe in Fulmer and I KNOW he wants Tennessee at the top again. He chose Pruitt over other solid candidates.
